Against Depression, A Sugar Pill Is Hard To Beat

After thousands of studies, hundreds of millions of prescriptions and tens of billions of dollars in sales, two things are certain about pills that treat depression: Antidepressants like Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft work. And so do sugar pills.

Now, take this all one (simple!) step further:
Combine both the concurrent placebo effect and the medical effect from both cognitive psychotherapy and SSRI's respectively, and the synergy produced by both used currently is significantly much more powerful than either single approach versus the other.
